The QS X IWG workshop on "How to effectively run digital campaigns in China" was successfully held at Spaces Sun House in Hong Kong on February 15th. This event marked QS Search's first engagement since the policy on events was relaxed, with over 30 marketers in attendance. The recent full customs clearance between Hong Kong and mainland China has resulted in a significant policy relaxation in various industries, including retail and tourism. Adley Wong, QS's Global Media Sales Manager, was invited to share his insights on developing the China market, with a focus on assisting foreign brands in entering the Chinese market successfully.

Recent statistics indicate that Chinese companies invested almost 800 billion yuan in digital advertising in 2022, representing 88% of the country's overall advertising market revenue. This unprecedented growth signifies the rise of digital marketing, especially in the post-epidemic era, which will remain the focus of many Chinese businesses in the foreseeable future.

Looking ahead to 2023, Adley believes that brands will continue increasing their digital marketing investments in China. In addition to search ads, brands will also need to increase their investments in social media and short videos. He suggested that brands formulate their marketing strategies in line with the latest marketing trends and combine multiple media promotions to reach more potential Chinese buyers.

During the workshop, marketers from various industries actively participated in the discussion on how overseas companies can follow the digital marketing trend to carry out Chinese marketing. Adley addressed the participants' concerns by sharing the latest distribution of digital marketing channels in China. Additionally, he gave a detailed analysis of the demographic characteristics and advertising strategies of several popular promotion media in China, such as Baidu, Qihoo 360, and Douyin, helping brands to understand the latest situation of the Chinese market and users more effectively.
